On April 29th and 30th, local leaders and community members from across British Columbia gathered in Prince George to attend the Northern BC Climate Action Network (NorthCAN) Forum. NorthCAN aims to overcome silos by bringing together voices from local and Indigenous leadership, business, industry, forestry and agriculture, public health, education, and other non-government organizations. Over the course of both days, participants profiled efforts concerned with local climate action, mitigation, and adaptation, building community resiliency, and striving towards healthy futures. This event included a series of presentations and networking initiatives that encouraged cross-sectoral dialogue around important issues such as watershed health, local and sustainable food production, low-carbon infrastructure and energy solutions, and public health emergency response systems.
